15 Inventive Christmas Tree Themes

Christmas Tree O’ Christmas Tree! here are 15 Inventive Christmas Tree Themes and clever decorations.

Growing up, I was raised by my grandparents and my grandma always had the MOST beautiful Christmas Trees. Glass ornaments, pearls for garland and just gold and crystal and elegance. I always told myself I was going to have the most gorgeous and thought out Christmas tree.

I think that we all have Monica Geller’s (FRIENDS) POPD.. AKA Perfect Ornament Placement Disorder. I definitely do and it is so hard when you have kids who are constantly wanting to decorate the tree, and redecorate on an hourly basis.

Now I have a 2 year old and the ornaments just do not stay on the tree, I have plastic ones. And this year I settled for just lights on our tree because my toddler uses the ornaments as ping pong balls to bounce off the kitchen floor. SOMEDAY I will have my amazing beautiful tree.

The Christmas Tree is the centerpiece of ALL Christmas decorations. Some people decorate their houses to match their trees. As I was searching the web for new holiday decor inspirations I didn’t realize how many amazing and unique Christmas tree themes there are. Here are a few of my favorite ones.

Santa Clause Theme

Christmas ~ Christmas tree with Santa hat as a topper. More

This is really cute and decorative. It looks like random stuff just hung on the tree to represent Old St. Nick and I am loving everything about it.

Snowman Theme

Lovely snowman christmas tree to make using mesh!

Just wrapping mesh around your tree to make a snowman is a great and easy idea. My mother in law has a snow man tree that she actually made! It’s such a clever idea.

Rainbow Theme

Ombre Hairstyles are “IN” now a days. But what about a rainbow ombre tree??  I actually really like this.

Disney Theme

A Disney themed tree would be a fun idea for kids as well as collectors. Seeing this tree SCREAMS a Disney Land trip is in store. It would be a cute way to announce to your kids they’re going to Disney Land as well.

Peppermint Theme

Peppermint tree’s are a little more popular. I personally think they’re among my favorite style of tree decorating.  I love the white and red together but it doesn’t clash with other decorations you might put out next to it.

The North Pole Theme

Doing such a whimsical and fun tree is always a plus. This is similar to the Santa Clause tree. A bunch of random ornaments and flare in the same color pallet. Really CUTE!

Wood Post Pumpkins

Untitled design

PUMPKINS! PUMPKINS! PUMPKINS! Tis the season for Pumpkins. I have seen so many different ways to make pumpkins decorative. In my last post about Front Porch Decorating  you may have gotten a bunch of ideas about decorating with your own “REAL” pumpkins but I wanted to try and make my own out of some wooden posts that I had. Here are a few examples of different ways you can make pumpkins.

Painted tree sections and embellished with leaves... Pumpkins!  Block Pumpkins - Halloween decorations made from pallet wood. More

fun wood pumpkins-cut & paint 2x4s (or use leftover pcs from hubbies project!) :o)

The list is honestly ENDLESS on the ways you can create pumpkins. Using real ones for decoration is great. I do that as well. But they usually do not last throughout Halloween and Thanksgiving so making custom ones is a great way to knock out both holidays!

Here’s how to make Wood Post Pumpkins:

This used to be a 4×4 post that was cut into pieces and sanded. My measurements are..
Large: 4×21 Inches
Medium: 4×17 Inches
Small: 4×13 Inches

If you do not have a saw you can go to a local Home Depot or Lowes and they will cut your wood for you.

The next step that I did was paint them all orange. However I really didn’t like that they were so boxy looking. I really wanted my “Pumpkins” to have more shape to them. So I took a chisel to them!

Please don’t judge my chisel skills it was the first time I had used one. I started by placing a chisel and hammering down and then pulling off the wood. I really didn’t know what I was doing but that’s what I love about crafting so much. You get to play around.
I chiseled the edges and middles of the posts.

After I was don’t experimenting with the chisel. I put another coat of orange paint. It doesn’t have to be perfect because I knew I was just going to distress it with the sander.

They still look boxy but with a little more “OOMPH”.

After You have chiseled and painted. Take your sander and run over the edges and chiseled lines for a more distress look. This also helps see the grooves in the posts more noticeable.

I then cut off a branch outside and cut 3 long stems from it. And hot glued them onto my posts. I hot glued green ribbon and made my “PUMPKINS” sign from my silhouette machine. I fastened the sign with wire.
I initially wanted to add more ribbons to the top but I ended up liking the simplicity of just one ribbon.

Aren’t they FUN?! This was such a fun and easy project. I really loved how these turned out! I decided to set mine out on my front porch but these really would look great anywhere you decide to place them. The best part about them is I can leave them out for Halloween and Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Crafting!

DIY Fall Decor Sign

SIGNS! SIGNS! And more SIGNS! Signs are a really popular trend right now. I think that Joanna Gaines has something do with that but who knows. Joanna is my answer to everything these days. I personally love the style. I think that farmhouse sayings and rustic signs are a great decor piece for a small wall you just don’t know what to do with or just leaning one on your entry way table.

I think that besides decorating, Signs can have a great meaning to them. Whether its your favorite quote, or just something that makes you laugh. I think that positive sayings around your home is a MUST. So instead of just “Pinning” sayings, Hang them up!

As I have said in the past. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and I love everything fall besides being cold! I saw this fall sign on Pinterest and I knew that I had to make it for myself. I made mine a little different but I loved how it turned out.  Isn’t it adorable?!

Fall Porch Decor Ideas

Finallyfoundmy newhome! (1)

Decorating your front porch can be exciting but often overwhelming for some people. Here are some great ideas for simple, yet charming Fall Decor ideas for your Front Porch.
There is just something about summer turning into fall that I just love. The smells, colors, changing clothing styles, baking and DECORATING. Fall and Winter means a lot of decorating in my house. But besides the inside, the outside needs some love too. I am not one of those people who decorate my lawn for Halloween or go all out in lights for Christmas. However I do love an inviting front porch and door.

Fall means that the Holidays are near and that means GUESTS, GUESTS, GUESTS. I don’t just decorate my house for guests but I do it because my child likes it and so do my husband and I. It is so inviting to walk up to our front door with warmth of the holidays.
I hope you enjoy these ideas as much as I did!

Pantry Organization

Parmesan Cheese

Keeping the Pantry organized to me might as well be a full time job! It is easy to organize but not everyone in the family keeps it uncluttered when they are trying to find something. I think the key to keeping a pantry clean and organized is making everything easily accessible so there is no tossing around trying to find a particular item. It also hard when grocery shopping took everything out of you and you just want to throw all the groceries in the pantry and close the door. But I think having special bins and baskets or even File Folders to help you at is a must! Check out these awesome Pantry tips.

Decorating with Lanterns

Lanterns are becoming more and more popular. I have seen people use them a lot for holiday decor and just for dressing up their front and back porches. I have put a few different decorating ideas together on how to dress them up in your home! Enjoy.

This is a picture I found from Etsy. I have linked the site to the picture but I think these would be really easy to make yourself. Stain 2 pieces of wood. Screw on hanger and then add the lanterns. I love this idea for lanterns because it looks so elegant to me. I think this would be really cute in a foyer or entry way next to an entry way table or something.

Most of the time after weddings people will make shadow boxes for their keepsake memorabilia and then hang it on the wall or stashed somewhere in  your closet. I think instead of a shadow box. Dressing up an antique lantern with your wedding memories is so elegant and different. This is really pretty to display on top of your dresser or even vanity.

Adding a lantern on top of a planter is a really decorative idea. I think even putting the lantern on top of a planter or pot and then plant flowers around it would be really cute and decorative as well.

This is a different decorating idea for those of you who don’t want to use an end table. Instead of the end table at the end of a couch or chair. Add a few over-sized lanterns with greenery inside of them for a more personalized style.

Amazon Farmhouse Decor

I am loving farmhouse decor more and more. Although I love Joanna Gaines i’m not as rustic as she is but I think a lot of the farmhouse decor items you can incorporate or even use in your house such as produce baskets and calendars are both great pieces as well as provide a functional use.

I wrote up a previous post about farm house decor ideas and I just wanted to share with you that Amazon has great deals on farm decor as well. Most of these are fairly inexpensive and by the looks of them they are decorative pieces to incorporate some farm style or rustic into your home.

Dollar Store Hacks

Decorating your home is a lot of fun but can be very expensive. Alot of the time even a simple vase can cost you more than you want to spend. Did you ever think to look at the Dollar Store for home decor items? Target is right next to the Dollar Store where I live and I often find myself forgetting about the Dollar Store most of the time. I love Target but I have found that I can make or even buy some of these “expensive things” i would normally buy at Target at the Dollar Store.

I have put together a few ideas for home decor as well as other organization hacks that can be found at the Dollar Store. Some of these things absolutely shocked me! Enjoy.

Decorating Farmhouse Style

Farmhouse style decorating is becoming the new trend more and more thanks to Chip and Joanna Gaines. The more older that I get the more I discover what my style is like. I will admit that I change my mind several times a year but there is something about modern farmhouse decor that sticks with me.

Fixer Upper has been one of my favorite shows for years now.  I think I can speak for most of us when I say that Joanna Gaines is basically our spirit animal. I absolutely LOVE her design plans with her light colored walls and her stained wood accents. It is also really simple and most of the time inexpensive to incorporate farmhouse into your home. I put together a few ideas that are so simple it even blew MY mind!

Some of the things I found with farmhouse decorating is alot of the small accents you could find at the Dollar Store, Goodwill Stores or even local thrift stores. They might not be the color you want but chalk painting or spray painting them will be a quick fix to that.

DIY Floating Shelves just like the ones from Fixer Upper! Make 2 of these for about $10! Great way to add farmhouse charm to any room!

Tutorial: Thrifty and Chic

I am absolutely IN LOVE with these shelves. I never knew how easy they were to put together until I saw this tutorial on how to make them yourself. They look so elegant and clean as well as add a rustic charm to any space you put them in. I also love that you can decorate them up with fun antique finds.

DIY Bathroom Sign

Create this adorable DIY Industrial Farmhouse Bathroom Sign with this easy to follow tutorial!

Tutorial: Cherished Bliss

Adding distressed metal to the space is a great look as well as adding more to the theme other than wood. This is a simple tutorial to make a bathroom sign using a wooden plaque from your local craft warehouse and then hot gluing galvanized letters onto it. I think I am totally doing this idea!

The Easiest DIY Farmhouse Candlesticks. Check out this easy tutorial to see how old spindles were used to make farmhouse style candlesticks in just a few simple steps!

Tutorial: Little Vintage Nest

Buying new candlesticks can be pricey. But often you will find a set at a thrift store or yard sale that you can chalk paint and then distress or antique. In this tutorial she used table legs. Candle sticks give any space charm as well as a simple but yet decorative accent to any space.

Thrift Store Finds

Tutorial: Sincerely Sara

The picture is pretty self explanatory but I love this idea because these things are so cheap at goodwill stores and thrift stores. If you were to buy them at an actual store You would be paying anywhere between $10-$20 for just one item. They would make a great display in a china hutch or even bring them out for serving platters at family gatherings.

Kitchen Herbs

Tutorial: Rustic and Woven

This project is on my to-do-list! In this tutorial she chalk painted terracotta pots and then stamped the letters onto them to spell out the herb. I think they are so cute and look great. I think clean looking herbs in the kitchen is a great idea. They offer a convenience as well as add greenery and charm to any space.

DIY High Beams

Tutorial: Jenna Sue Design

In the show Fixer Upper you will see ALOT  of beams in the design plan. Most of the time they use heavy real beams in the homes but I have seen them do wrap arounds like in this tutorial. I love this especially for those who have high ceilings. They give the ceilings a more drastic look and the eye will be drawn to the massive ceilings as well as give great symmetry to a room.

Pantry Organizaton

For me I am always looking for organization tips. Organizing the pantry with crates and over sized mason jars is a great idea. It serves for a clean look but still being decorative….. IN YOUR PANTRY! If that isn’t a terrific idea I don’t know what is! The pantry door is meant to be closed but If my pantry looked like this I wouldn’t mind showing it off.

Triad of Narrow Whitewashed Mirrors Accented with Eucalyptus Wreath

Adding a wreath to mirrors, windows, picture frames, walls, etc. It is a great accent to any room. As well as bringing in a little color into a rustic room. I for one am obsessed with wreaths. I feel like a piece of me is missing if there isn’t a wreath on my front door. So I love the idea of bringing a small one into my home somewhere as an accent piece.

Antique Doors

I don’t think you can watch Fixer Upper without Joanna bringing in an old antique door that she found. I think adding one in places such as the pantry, laundry room or even an office adds a lot of charm.

Organizing a space with baskets or crates is a great decorating idea. Often times you can even find the metal baskets at the Dollar Store. It cleans up clutter but offers a great accent piece.
